Eric Bergstrom, Oscar Carlson, and Sven Dahlquist established
B-C-D Metal Products, Inc. (B-C-D), in 1935, as a blacksmith shop.
A major change in the company’s direction came in 1953 when the company
incorporated: Ralph Carlson, son of Oscar, became President, and his vision
took B-C-D from wrought-iron works to supplier to the aerospace industry.
The company began modern production by manufacturing small brackets, then
gradually added precision tube forming and assembly to its manufacturing
capabilities.
Throughout the years B-C-D worked closely with its customers, primarily
General Electric Aircraft Engines (GEAE) in Lynn, Massachusetts. The geographical
proximity and strong working relation between the two companies enabled B-C-D to
contribute significantly to GE’s development programs. Other core customers have
included: Raytheon, the U.S. Government (Defense Industrial Supply Center, Naval
Inventory Control Point, Kelly AFB, Tinker AFB, and Defense Supply Center Columbus). Longstanding supplier relations with GEAE and others have given B-C-D more than forty-five years of experience in the aerospace industry.
